Rachel Getting Married (2008)
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Sat down to watch Vicky Christina Barcelona and instead Rachel Getting Married started playing. That is what happens with Netflix, I forget what is coming in the mail.

The movie is good. Interesting to take a look at a film through the eyes of family members that the rest of the family kind of wishes was not invited to the party, an atypical protagonist. It will remind most people of holidays, those happy loving days sprinkled throughout the year spent fighting with and blaming loved ones.
The film seems to have some sort of family bonding, happiness, second chance theme going on. But really it just gave me some advice and made me realize that my Mother may have been right about weddings all these years.
Wedding advice learned from Rachel Getting Married:
-Do not have a drawn out wedding where you will be prepping for a week.
-If you are prepping for a week do not have all of your closest friends hanging out at your parents house for the prep period.
-Talk to your sister more than a week before the wedding.
-If at that one-week point she is a recovering addict, think twice about inviting her at all.
-Don’t do everything by yourself. This is America, we delegate the things that we don’t want to do to those around us who won’t say no. (Note: In adhering to the above point, have them help from a safe distance that is not your parent’s house)
-Don’t invite fifty people to stay at your house for a week before the big day. This can be spread further; don’t invite fifty people to stay at your house ever. Do however be one of fifty people crashing out someone else’s pad; that’d be a lot of fun.
Wedding advice learned from my Mother and backed up by Rachel Getting Married (in ideal to deal-with order):
-Elope
-Have a destination wedding where all you, and the parents, have to do is show up
-If the wedding has to be local have it cheap and low key. Spend the rest of the money on a honeymoon.
